I tried as you mentioned above.

I had the following inspection types with the below settings:

04 - variant 01:  Not active, Not preferred

Z4 - variant 02:  Active, Not preferred (HU Managed)

Z4B  - variant 03:  Active, Not preferred (Non HU Managed)

Unfortunately this did not work.  With these settings, it did NOT create any inspection lots.  The only way I could get it to work was to specify one as preferred, but then it only created an inspection lot for that particular inspection type.

I am not sure why but SAP does not seem to want a material to be managed in QM as HU managed and Non-HU managed.

Any other ideas?
